Are your wrist angles causing your crooked ball flight?

The image (left) shows Jak highlighting three different lead wrist angles:

Flat lead wrist.
Cupped lead wrist (Extension).
Bowed lead wrist (Flexion).

Golfers with a tendency to slice the ball, in my experience most of the time create a cupped lead wrist (Image 2). In order to straighten that ball flight that golfer should try to flatten that lead wrist out (Image 1), if not attempt to bow the lead wrist (Image 3), in order to straighten out their ball flight.

Conversely, if the golfer has a tendency to hook the golf ball, they may be over bowing the lead wrist (Image 3) they should attempt to flatten out the lead wrist (Image 1), in order to straighten their ball flight out.

DISCLAIMER - There may be other impact factors which cause slices and hooks, all of which are quickly identified and corrected during a lesson, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you think that your wrist angles are causing you to play bad golf!

Live Q&A Session

Hi guys, I hope you’ve all had an enjoyable week in spite of the Covid restrictions and less than ideal weather.

So as some of you may or may not have seen I did a live Instagram interview and Q&A with my good friend Simon DeCastella who is quite a big golf influencer on social media, he also runs an amateur golf tour down in Surrey.

We spoke about a number of things, lots of great stuff about the mental game, the tour, our backgrounds and much more and answered lots of viewers questions, there was lots of great feedback from the video saying it was a very insightful and a thought provoking interview with regards to the mental game, one person even said “it was the best live Vestis had done yet”.

So if any of you didn’t know about it or missed it and would like to see it then please don’t hesitate to drop me a message and I will try to get a copy to you as soon as I have it! I believe it will be uploaded to YouTube at some point on the Vestis tour page so you may be able to find it there in the next few days.

A little bit of magic

It’s common knowledge that golf tournaments are often decided on the greens, but the Waste Management Phoenix Open evolved into a chip-off late on Sunday.

Brooks Koepka produced a moment of magic – a tricky chip holed-out for eagle on 17 – to earn him the title. On the other hand, some had moments to forget (sorry, Xander Schauffele!), but either way, it was fascinating to see how much goes into short-range wedge shots for the PGA Tour’s finest.
