Are you ready for the return of golf? As golf looks to be on the horizon of a return are you ready to get back playing. It's still uncertain when we can return but we will know more on Sunday's government announcement as the look set to ease the lockdown. The club has been preparing behind the scenes to be ready for the go ahead. The Management Committee have worked on a set of guidelines using the R&A and PGA documents that were released last week. Obviously they are subject to change as we don't know what the government will say on Sunday. Here are a few things that will happen in what we will call the first phase. Course Set-up: - Rakes removed from bunkers
- Ball washers covered up
- Bins covered up or removed where possible
- Guidance posts on 11th and 16th removed
- Flagsticks retained but hole liners positioned so that ball does not fall as far and can be picked out of hole without touching the flagstick
- Benches taped up with hazard warning tape
- Shoe cleaner after the 18th to remain out of use and manual brush cleaner removed
- Stairway to clubhouse balcony taped up with hazard warning tape
- Social distancing notices positioned at strategic points around the clubhouse and on the course
Practice Areas: - Putting green closed and hazard taped off
- Practice nets closed and hazard taped off
- Practice ground closed in initial phase of opening
- Professional can provide coaching on the practice ground with appropriate social distancing observed
Before the Round: - Members only in initial phase of opening
- Non-competition social golf only to be played, no fiddles
- All golf to be played using allocated tee times only, booked via the professional by phone between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Booking can only be made for member and one other member at a time. The professional to try and match members for a game where needed
- Booking can only be done a maximum of 6 days ahead of desired slot, but the professional able to allocate unused slots after 1pm on any day from 1pm on the previous day
- Tee times to be available for booking from 8am to 6pm each weekday and from 7am to 6pm at weekends with all members on an equal footing. No guaranteed slots for juniors, ladies or seniors but non-workers requested to play during the week if possible
- Play to be in 2 balls only initially, allocated at 8 minutes intervals
- Only 1st tee to be available, no play starting from the 11th
- Members limited to two slots per week (at least until sense of demand established) which cannot be on consecutive days
- Golfers to arrive by car 10/15 minutes before tee time and change shoes in the car park
- Golfers to stay in or next to car until 5 minutes before tee time when they can move to the 1st tee, observing social distancing
After the Round: - Golfers to leave the course immediately after their round is over, with no gatherings around the clubhouse
These are just a few guidelines that have been set out, again we and you will know more after Sunday, we just want to keep the membership informed.
