The COVID-19 Coronavirus

At Hickleton Golf Club, we would like to let our Members and Guests know, that we are closely monitoring the situation with regards to the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus. We are following the guidelines and advice from the W.H.O and protocols advised by the UK government and international authorities. The well-being of our staff, members and guests is our highest priority.

If you are showing any of the symptoms outlined on the government website, we ask that you avoid visiting Hickleton Golf Club and to contact us immediately on email. If guests do call, they will be advised to email in. We ask all Members and guests who show symptoms to follow the regulations from the Government on self–isolation www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public.

Ash's Trip to The Players

Well what can I say, I set off for a nice 10-day break in America. After arriving the Friday of Bayhill Sam (Danny’s Caddie) had contracted septicaemia from a blister on his foot, he was therefore unable to caddie for The Player’s Championship. Danny asked if I could step in for the week which I accepted. The only downside to this was I couldn’t sit around and drink beer all day!

As most of you are aware The Players was cancelled after the first round where Danny had shot -3 in blustery conditions. It was a lot of fun and something that most people will not be able to experience. I had to cut the holiday short as Nyle decided to play football and rupture his knee, he has had surgery and is recovering well.

Sociable sessions

Playing golf with your friends is one of the best things about this sport but, if you’re tired of playing long strokeplay rounds in your fourball, why not try some of the fun formats below the next time you find yourself going out in a four?

4BBB

This game is a lot of fun and sees both team members play their own ball, with the lowest score counting at each hole. In a fourball betterball match, players receive 90% of the difference from the player with the lowest handicap.

Greensomes

Both partners tee off on each hole. You then choose the best drive and play alternate shots for the rest of the hole. Your greensomes handicap should be 60% of the lower partner’s handicap added to 40% of the higher partner’s.

Gruesomes

This is a great way to find out who your true friends are as the format is the same as Greensomes only your opposition decide which drive you play from. Although don't blame us if you all end up falling out over it.
