You often hear golf pundits and coaches talking about how power in the swing is built from the ground up.

So it goes without saying wearing golf shoes that are a) the correct size and b) offer the required grip are important to our golf game allowing you to turn back and through with speed and power, all the while maintaining balance.

Open Days 2020

All our open days are now available to book online through the club website. Click here to view the schedule.

The Seniors open’s and ladies events are filling up fast we still have plenty of times for the Open better ball on Saturday 6th June.

The dates for the Opens are listed below:

Monday 1st June - Ladies Am-Am.
Saturday 6th June - Gents Open Betterball.
Thursday 11th June - Seniors Open 1 (Pairs).
Monday 6th July - Ladies Texas Scramble.
Monday 10th August - Ladies Am-Am 2.
Monday 31st August - Bank holiday Mixed Pairs.
Thursday 10th September - Seniors Open 2 (Singles).

Upcoming Social Events - All Available to Book

Sunday 22nd March – Mother’s day lunch – Three-course menu - £17.50 per person.

The art of putting

‘Drive for show, putt for dough’. No doubt you have heard this one a few times before but considering putting equates to between 30 to 50% of our shots on the course, it also has a large element of truth in it.

Cleveland Frontline putters

If you know your putting needs to improve and you're considering a new toy to help you with that, this is one range we'd certainly suggest trying.

It's slightly different to other putters on the market as it has two tungsten weights in the face to essentially help improve accuracy on off-centre hits.

You can see some of the different head shapes available in the image above, from classic blades to more modern, large mallets.

The whole puzzle

If you're considering buying new irons this year, have a think about how they are going to blend into the rest of your set. The idea is to have equal yardage gaps between each club in your bag so, if you are going to treat yourself, it might be worth replacing a long iron with a hybrid that is easier to hit.

Take danger out of play

The illustration here is a good example of where a hybrid comes in handy. When our driver brings danger into play and a long-iron leaves us too far to the green, a hybrid is the perfect option.

One hybrid that we particularly like is the PING G410. Its thinner and more flexible face generates good ball speed and a nice high launch. Call us on 01709 896081 if you fancy trying it out.
